Maleese Warner (Recorder) is Native American from the Mescalero Apache and Cherokee
Nations. She has a Master's in Early Childhood Development and a Master’s in Art from
Ashford University in San Diego and a Master's in Studio Fine Arts from the University of
Arts in Philadelphia. Prior to accepting the position of Director of Early Childhood Education
at SRJC’s Children’s Center, Maleese was with the California Rural Tribal Health Board
where she served as the Program Supervisor and Head Preschool Teacher in Point Arena for
the Manchester Band of Pomo Indians. She has taught art at the College of the Redwoods in
Fort Bragg and was an art teacher for the Mendocino Coast Recreation & Park District. She
has a Program Supervisor Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
She hopes to hold space for the next generation to flourish in education and instill the need for
the preservation of tradition and cultural values. Her preferred pronouns are she and her.
